Toby Plunkett specialises in computational design, expanding on his academic career which focused on the research of natural, mathematical, and scientific systems, and how these can be combined with pioneering computational and parametric modelling systems to create and influence architectural elements at all scales.

He is currently leading the Roof package of Everton FC’s new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium, applying his considerable skill set to ensure the highest design quality while introducing performance and fabrication optimisations and creating more efficient workflows from the design stages through to production.

Toby was part of the New Bids team responsible for securing the VIDENA Complex at the Pan American Games. He was then the computational design lead on the Athletics Stadium, where he modelled and solved complex design problems to create an aerodynamic control system of the track’s home straight, enabling national athletes to improve their qualifying times for international events.

Alongside his work at BDP Pattern, Toby continues to research and develop new skills through the design, fabrication and construction of architectural pavilions and art installations. His large-scale projects have been commissioned both here at home in the UK as well as further afield in such places as the USA and UAE.

Toby has been with BDP Pattern since 2016, after completing his masters degree and graduating with Distinction from the University of Westminster.
