A modern vision for the historic RDS grounds, Dublin.

Pattern used geometry in its purest sense to create an iconic and grand venue within the existing site. It is an elegant response to the site’s history and landscape, as well as the varied requirements of equestrian, rugby and concert events.

The design provides a dramatic variety of levels and spaces, all of which enhance spectator experience and maximise hospitality opportunities. The new stand is a stage for the spectators to see, be seen and to enjoy the events as they are meant to be experienced. Central to the identity of the RDS are the historic hornbeams; Pattern’s design celebrates this unique character. The majority of the hornbeams are retained, maintaining the spatial rhythm of the judging grounds and creating a natural colonnade along the new stand.
